The Halyard H600 Masks were created by the University of Florida anesthesiology department and professor of anesthesiology Dr. Bruce Spiess to combat the shortage of healthcare worker personal protective equipment. Speiss dreamt up the idea late one night and after researching, discovered the Halyard H600 surgical wrap traditionally used for storing and sterilizing surgical instruments has a BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency) of 99.9%, the highest available rating. For reference, N95 respirators, the most popular PPE used and top OSHA certified/recommended masks have a 95% BFE.
This listing is for 50 masks made from Halyard H600 double layer patented polypropylene with 4 ties and a pliable nose wire ensuring a comfortable and secure fit-tested seal. H600 ties upon each corner are fully lined with heat resistant yarn adding strength and durability for repeated wear. No straight pins or excessive seams are used in production, preventing unnecessary holes/points of entry for particulates that void fit test(s). Pleated edges are double stitched to reinforce ties, pleats, and side seams.
Each mask measures 7.25"x4" with 36" ties end to end. This size is perfect for a variety of face shapes/head sizes and passed 3 different hospital respirator fit tests. Respirator fit tests analyze the seal of a mask to your face and must meet certain criteria to pass and be used by medical professionals or recommended as PPE.
DO NOT Wash, iron, wet, or write on your mask. Hospital autoclave is best method for sterilization though home oven at 165-200 degrees fahrenheit for 30minutes is also proven safe and effective. Do not use mask if torn, ripped, or degrading in any way.
